Tin-tin: 3D would probably have enjoyed this more if i had actually read some of the comic books and knew some of the stories. on the upside, at least it's not another superhero comic book rehash movie. the motion capture, animation, and casting were all excellent. tin-tin looked so real, it was amazing. i thought the dog snowy was cute, but not as cute as i expected. the jokes were all very funny, but for some reason i didn't like the plot too much. for a spielberg-jackson creation, it was missing my wow-factor. and i wish someone had warned me that half the movie would be set in a boat or in a crashing plane so i could take some dramamine. lol. anyway, it was an entertaining enough movie. but i wouldn't watch it again. if i do though, this is one movie that has to be in 3d. definitely.
Arthur Christmas: 3D ![]() for some reason, the only movies i've ever rated 5-stars happen to be animated. maybe real life actors inevitably ruin movies for me. lol... in any case, this was an excellent movie. the special effects were incredible. the music was great. the treatment of the story wasn't all the other christmas stories ever told. all the voice actors were right on the money. the screenplay was very funny and the elves were hilarious! a definite christmas must-see! on a personal note, watching this movie is probably the closest to christmas celebration i will have this month. how sad is my life.
Twilight - Breaking Dawn Part I stephanie meyers' writing is crap. i only really want to watch the chemistry of the cast, because somehow, for some reason, that part is good. i basically like how the movie has been made, special effects and screenplay and whatnot, but jeez, blood and breaking bones and stabbing people--a little too gory for my taste. keep forgetting it's only half a chick flick, there's actually violence, fighting and talking dogs involved of course the movie pace was sooo slow. the first 30min of the movie was a whole wedding, i felt like i was watching a real boring wedding video and nothing else happened. you think something might, but nothing did. and they really all need to get over their own self-involved, tortured-soul issues. it's so annoying. get over it already. of course it was really all over after the first 45 seconds when jacob took his shirt off. we all pretty much could go home by then this movie had some really funny lines. unexpected. but good. that probably saved the film. the scoring was a bit weird, half-contempo-rock and half the same soundtracks from all 3 previous movies. not that i would know, not having seen the 2 and 3. but obviously they are not required context in order to understand 99% of this 4th installation and they're really milking it by splitting the last book into 2 movie parts, just like harry potter of course i totally called that the movie would end that way. how else could they logically split it? although i don't really see why i would want to see the 5th film anymore as the rest of it seem to be related to movie 2 and 3 storyline which were probably the most boring bits of the whole series that i don't really care about i bet it was all running around and trying not to get killed by werewolves or vampires--7 hours of it anyway the final verdict for edward vs jacob-- taylor lautner is so much hotter, but he needs to shut up. he can't act to save his life. robert pattinson is a good enough actor, but sometimes they do his make-up all wrong and he seriously looks like a fruitcake . and as far as i'm concerned, they already all lived happily ever after. the end.
Friends With Benefits can't believe i completely forgot to review this one. lol.. september was a hectic month. anyhoo, i actually liked this movie. and surprised that justin timberlake has some decent acting skills. of course acting skills required for a rom-com not so much in the big leagues, but just good enough that he didn't ruin every scene. mila kunis is so funny. the plot is cliche (what's new) but the treatment was entertaining. sure, the ending wasn't all that flash but how else can you end something as typical as this? i'd watch it again though. unlike most rom-com's, this one is not terribly annoying.
Something Borrowed ![]() unexpectedly good--for a chick flick. but then apparently it's based on a book, and those are always good. except for twilight, of course. i thought the acting was great and the casting was spot on. this movie had a very interesting way of story telling, and was only halfway predictable. some interesting twists and turns althroughout. there was only one little twist i didn't like, but i'm pretty sure it was meant to serve a purpose for the plot but unfortunately i missed it. that means i'll have to watch this again. wow.
Cowboys and Aliens
I'm going to pretend this was Indiana Jones 4. This sure was a heck of a lot better than that, and roundabout the same plot anyway. Aliens kind of looked like District 9ish. Harrison Ford's character had some weird conflict where you couldn't tell if he was supposed to be a good guy or a bad guy I'm so glad Olivia Wilde was more than just a damsel in distress. She was starting to get annoying during the first half of the movie, like why did she always have to be wet? I was glad Paul Dano (Percy) was in this movie. His character, though negligible, was funny. He was funny on Girl Next Door too. I was hoping the ending would be great, but it was just good. And Mr. James Bond didn't turn out to be what I hoped, which killed his character for me. Even though I think they hoped the movie would come out as slightly funny, it wasn't. But not a bad movie all in all. It was entertaining enough and the plot wasn't an overused cliche. I always liked en media res. I'm just glad it wasn't in 3D. It's not worth that much of my money. Even if it is made by all Paramount, Universal and Dreamworks.
